East Peak Hike

At the beginning of our adventure to East Peak, I was not pleased with the fact that we were going on a hike so early in the morning. There was no parking lot so we made signs that said " Journalists at work" to place inside of our cars. No one wanted to get their cars towed while away! Author Christine Woodside then met us and led the group towards the trail we were going to follow. She explained that the marks on the trees signified a trail was present, we took a trail marked with a blue blaze, known as the Metacomet trail.

Quite a View

The amazing views from the top of Heublein Tower made our 1.25 mile treck up Talcott Mountain worth the effort. Department of Environmental Protection's Amanda Davis, took the Media Lab Staff up the yellow trail and explained the sights and sounds and history of the area. The trail began with a steep, quarter-mile climb, but once we got past that section of the trail, the path leveled out. Amanda brought us to a section of the trail that overlooked Avon and Farmington. Even though we were there on a foggy day, the views were breathtaking.
